Experts, Orthopedics

Our Orthopedics Department is one of the best

0 Comments 30 July 2012

We know our patients and families, and certainly we employees, realize what an amazing Orthopedics team we have at Children’s. And U.S. News & World Report agrees, ranking our Orthopedics department as one of the very best pediatric programs in the country.

Our orthopedic experts treat more kids with bone fractures than any other medical center in North Texas. And our staff, which includes five full-time pediatric orthopedic surgeons, also treats children with a variety of other orthopedic problems — from routine injuries to rare musculoskeletal infections and sports injuries.

And while they are experts of the physical side, our Orthopedic team is also a caring, compassionate group of caregivers adept at mending the emotional in addition to broken bones.

Here are some reasons we think ours is one of the best programs in the country:

  • The range of expertise of the full-time pediatric orthopedic surgeons and the expert clinical staff includes musculoskeletal disorders, sports injuries, acute fractures, congenital deformities, hip disorders, scoliosis, trauma-related injuries, musculoskeletal infections and hand injuries.
  • The program’s diagnosis and treatment of all pediatric musculoskeletal disorders and injuries includes evaluation and management of sports injuries, acute and reconstructive trauma care, evaluation and management of osteoarticular infection and multidisciplinary alignment with other specialty services.
  • The Sports Medicine Center features a unique combination of non-operative pediatricians and surgeons with advanced training in pediatric sports medicine for young and growing athletes. Physicians in the program also serve as team physicians for local high school and semi-professional teams.
  • The dedicated Sports Medicine Center goes beyond treating injuries to more complex medical issues associated with sports, including heart health, nutrition, rehabilitation and psychological well-being.
